چکیده

A nano-composite powder composed of silica and carbon with a unique property could be prepared from a mixture of a silicate compound and an epoxy compound, in which the silica within the nano-composite powder has a BET surface area of as high as greater than 800m2/g although the nano-composite powder has a BET surface area of less than 10m2/g. It was estimated that the silica and the carbon are in a very finely and uniformly mixed state within the nano-composite powder and that the silica and the carbon form particles having a diameter of several tens nm and a number of silica particles having a diameter of several nm exist within the every particle of the nano-composite powder. It was demonstrated that the nano-composite powder exhibits characteristic behaviors under calcination at a temperature of 1450°C such that an amorphous state of the nano-composite powder is maintained, a large amount of gaseous reactant generates from the nano-composite powder, and a reaction product of SiC is synthesized in the presence of another ingredient.

Synthesis of Si/MgO/Mg2SiO4 Composite from Rice Husk-Originated Nano-Silica

Silica exists in Rice husk, an agriculture waste, as a naturally occurring phase. In first step, acidic pre-treatment and calcination of the rice husk were performed to obtain nano-silica, in which various sizes of the nano-silica, totally with sizes under 80 nm, were achieved. Second, to reduce nano-silica to elemental Si and subsequently formation of the composite, Mg used as the reducing age...

Synthesis of HfB2 Powders by Carbothermal Reduction

In this research, solid state carbothermal synthesis of HfB2 Nano powders was investigated. For this purpose, HfO2,H3BO3, carbon active or phenolic resin were used as raw materials for carbothermal reaction. After 2-4 hours of milling the raw materials by a planetary ball in an ethanol media, the mixture was heat dried and pressed in to disks under pressure of 20-30 bar. The disks were then pla...

Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Modified and Functionalized Silica Nano-particles for Protein Delivery Applications

In this study, the synthesis, characterization and controlled release behavior of new Hollow Silica Nano particles (HSNPs) and Magnetic Silica Nano Particles (MSNPs) were studied. Magnetic Silica Nano particles (MSNPs), as drug delivery vehicles, were synthesized through the coating of Fe3O4 nano-crystals with silica layers. The HSNPs were obtained by removal of Fe3O4 templates with hydrochlori...
